Chez Marilyn in Alton

Went last night and after the 5th time the waitress walked by us without even acknowledging our presence we left. Been there a bunch of errands the last few years and ha e always had a good experience. Not last night, we will try again but if the service does not improve we won't try again.

My favorite place to go in Alton. Always makes me feel fancy. I have a lot of fond memories with the life size Marilyn Monroe statue!

Had Hair Guru Danni cut my hair today. Nice salon and even better haircut. 👍👍👍

We had a small class reunion here a couple months ago. Very nice cooperative people here. The food was good and drinks delicious. All the beer is bottles or cans, and I did not see draft beer. They have a beer garden off to the side and seating out front in a small sunken garden which is best enjoyed in the evening with no sun beating down on you. Right next to the Miles Davis statue.

Food was absolutely delicious!!! The service was the best that one person could do. She was bartending and waitressing and bussing tables. I thought she could have used a little more help. She was excellent. The taste of the food more than made up for it!!!

Great atmosphere. Creative drinks and high end food. The vibe is very laid back while being very elegant and impressive. Can't wait to go back!

I love pasta and I kid you not-the pasta is as good as any place as I've had in the country including the Hill neighborhood in St. Louis. I had no idea this place was so good. I live in Virginia but with relatives in the area I'll be back.

Pasta meal was very good. Service was excellent!

Black mold in the bathroom ceiling. Cold foods,tasteless or over spiced.Not to mention food poisoning .Other than that not bad.

Me and my granddaughter loved everything about Chez Marilyn.My granddaughter is a 5year old sophisticated foodie, and she loves the food and ambience and of course I do too. Very kid friendly, great food, great price. The employees all were very welcoming,the other guests(regulars) was also very nice and inviting.Me and my granddaughter hung out and a great time. Will be back with rest of my foodie family Soon!!

The tortilini was amazing, very good meal for a decent price and reasonable drink prices.

Love this place and their amazing food..Would like to shout out about an awesome waitress named Hannah who saved my brother from being in a lot of trouble with his wife because he forgot his phone on the table after we left Tuesday evening..He got half way home to St.Charles, when he realized he forgot it, so he turned around and went back and luckily, when he returned, Hannah had it ! Thank you Hannah for keeping him out of trouble!

Stopped by on a weekday, not very friendly, no specials and $10-12 Martini. I was not impressed, I recommend the Martini bar across the street or Tonys.

The skewers were excellent along with the spinach quiche like side and service was great even though we were there at an off time in middle of afternoon.

They have good food and a great Martini selection.

Absolutely wonderful skewers! Spinach salad was exceptional! Staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. My wife and I had a wonderful time.

A pleasant little bar / restaurant. Our server was friendly and efficient, the food was good, and the ambiance gave me plenty to chuckle about. There is a beautiful rock-lined patio with tables / umbrellas, and then you enter into the long, thin, mirrored bar -- both my friend and I separately joked that it felt like a strip club... but a classy strip club. But seriously, the dining section is very nice. Cool classic movie posters abound, plus a life-sized Marilyn Monroe.

We went for dinner during Restaurant Week & had the special. It was amazing! Our waitress was a short, blonde pixie looking girl & she went above & beyond on a check that was only $25.00. We left a 40% tip because she was exceptional.

Posting mainly because of the great and thoughtful bartender, who when a patron had brought in my ATM card I had left in a cash machine down the road, had the forethought and took the time to go to the shops next to the machine to tell them they had my card at Chez Marilyn’s. A large group of ours go to Chez Marilyn as often as we can always a great time. We recently booked 2 of there Mixologists for a party and it was the best idea ever.Thanks for the great service!

Love the patio. The food is hit and miss.

Food was great. Music was too loud. Shame too, band wasn't bad, just wayyyyyy toooo loud. Food is good here but menu is small. Kabobs are worthy and they make some good pasta dishes. Once we were told the kitchen ran out of food???? But we'll still ho back. Drinks are good but on the high end price wise. Nice outdoor seating in good weather. You park in Alton's downtown and can wander over to other bars or restaurants in the near vicinity. Certainly worth a visit.

We used to love this place. Food, drinks and atmosphere were top notch. Now they don't serve food, can't make a decent martini and the place feels sketchy. The outside tables are a nice place to sit and have a beer. Bring back the well dressed, polite bartenders who knew how to make the specialty martinis. Start cooking those delicious crab cakes and kabobs. Then we'll come back!

A great little bar and Restaurant in Downtown Alton Illinois. They bring Live music in all the time.

The sandwiches and burger was delicious. They serve pasta too but we did not try that. Maybe next time. I really liked their beer selection, lots of craft beers to choose from.

Food was good, bartender was very good. However it was $5.00 martini night but the waitress failed to tell us it was only a few selected martinis. One person in the group order a martini. Waitress selected one for her and guest did not know till she got her bill that her martini was doubled the price. Like false advertising.

Slow service, filthy restaurant, disengenious staff. Waited for 40+ minutes in an empty restaurant for our food. When I walked up to the kitchen to see what the cooks were doing, they weren’t even on the line. I would not reccomend this place.
